Nakolos takes Geneva – 5G Broadcast based hybrid content distribution at the International Telecommunication Union
In March the Nakolos team got the opportunity to showcase its 5G Broadcast based hybrid content distribution solutions at two subsequent meetings of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva. From the 6th to the 8th of March Fabian Bottesch presented Nakolos to the members of the ITU R-Study Group 6 during their meeting under the motto: Demonstration of advanced broadcasting technologies. Nakolos presents first market-ready hybrid content distribution solutions based on 5G Broadcast @MWC 2023
Following the succesful launch of the Nakolos project at IBC 2022 in Amsterdam, the Nakolos team presented their further developed solutions combining 5G Broadcast and Broadband on mobile devices at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona. Demos of “seamless switching”, “broadcast-on-demand” and “low latency” via 5G Broadcast on 5G Broadcast-enabled prototype smartphones were shown to industry insiders and interested visitors who were able to try and test the innovative applications live on-site. Nakolos at MWC 2023 – where 5G Broadcast meets Broadband
“5G Broadcast meets Broadband” is an initiative of ORS group and Nakolos targeting hybrid media distribution applications to enhance the 5G Broadcast ecosystem and support future commercial 5GBC deployments. Success for the Nakolos team at the International Broadcasting Convention 2022 (IBC) in Amsterdam
The Nakolos team presented a first live demo of the CDN offloading solution at IBC 2022 receiving a lot of interest from potential customers and partners. The demo showed the seamless switching of OTT channels which were being distributed to Android-based mobile devices from a CDN to 5G broadcast. The intelligent decision making to switch between the two distribution methods was carried out by the Nakolos middleware depending on the number of users watching the stream simultaneously.
