Nakolos Joins and Supports the 5G-MAG 5G Broadcast Plugfest
The Nakolos team actively contributed in the interoperability tests, technical discussions, and collaboration sessions throughout the 5G-MAG Plugfest , held in Berlin 9th to 11th June. The event offered vendors an excellent chance to test interoperability in a realistic multi-vendor setting. It also helped identify and resolve several minor implementation and integration issues. In some cases, vendors could apply fixes and validate improvements directly on-site. All the participants shared the positive expirience of close collaboration during the event.
Interoperability is the key to commercial success
The Plugfest is an important milestone for the growing 5G Broadcast ecosystem. It brings together infrastructure vendors, device manufacturers, software providers, and broadcasters. Together, they validate interoperability across multi-vendor deployments.
Nakolos also supported the Event as a sponsor. We strongly believe interoperability is essential for the successful commercial rollout of 5G Broadcast services. Broadcasters and Broadcast Network Operators must be able to rely on products from different manufacturers working seamlessly together. They should not need complex or time-consuming integration projects.
“Interoperability is one of the key success factors for 5G Broadcast. Customers need the confidence that solutions from different vendors can operate together seamlessly in real deployments. Events such as the 5G-MAG Plugfest are therefore extremely important for the entire ecosystem,” says Nithin Kurup, Head of Product Management at Nakolos.
Why we support 5G-MAG Plugfest
By participating in and supporting initiatives like the 5G-MAG Plugfest, Nakolos aims to strengthen the 5G Broadcast ecosystem. It supports an open, interoperable, and standards-based environment across the entire value chain. This includes transmission infrastructure, core networks, applications, and receiver devices.
“From the perspective of a Broadcast Network Operator, interoperability is critical for enabling efficient deployments and sustainable long-term operations. Operators must have the flexibility to work with different vendors and technologies without facing lengthy integration cycles or vendor lock-in. Industry initiatives such as the Plugfest are therefore essential to accelerate real commercial adoption,” says Johann Mika, Chief Innovation Officer at Big Blue Marble.

The Plugfest also highlighted opportunities for future events, like additional technical tutorials, and introductory sessions aimed at attracting a broader range of participants. Such initiatives would further strengthen knowledge sharing and help expand the growing 5G Broadcast community.
We are proud to have participated in this successful event. We would like to thank 5G-MAG, the organizers, and all participating companies. Their commitment helps build an open, interoperable, and standards-based 5G Broadcast ecosystem. We look forward to supporting future Plugfests and continuing our collaboration with industry partners.
